Gender-based disinformation is a concerning phenomenon that disproportionately affects women and girls, especially public figures, undermining their credibility and efforts to achieve equality and active participation in civic life. In a recent program, experts from various fields shared their perspectives on this issue and strategies to address it.
The guests of this program, women’s rights and gender equality activist Aulone Kadriu, journalist Luan Dervishaj, lawyer Florije Manaj-Zogaj, and psychologist Naim Telaku, discussed how gender-based disinformation spreads through social media and online platforms, leveraging gender stereotypes and misogynistic comments to polarize society and hinder women’s participation in politics and public spheres.
The guests emphasized the importance of media literacy, empowering women, and strengthening laws to curb the spread of this phenomenon.
The program concluded with an essential message: the fight against gender-based disinformation requires united efforts to build a fairer and more inclusive society.
